1- Introduction

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger and his family and companions. Afghan International Islamic University (AIIU) is the first international university in Afghanistan, established after the rise of the Islamic Emirate. Following the guidance of the Islamic Emirate leadership and the Ministry of Higher Education, it was deemed necessary to establish graduate-level institutions to train qualified professionals in the country. Consequently, the Cabinet of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan approved the establishment of Afghan International Islamic University (AIIU) on 01/09/1400 (Islamic calendar) under resolution No. 11, Clause 5. The main objective of this international academic center is to provide high-quality education and professional training of national experts in line with religious and national values. The leadership of AIIU believes that sustainable development and stability of Afghanistan is achievable only through high-quality education. With the cooperation of the Ministry of Higher Education and the persistent efforts of AIIU leadership, a well-structured academic environment was quickly established, attracting attention from the Afghan population. Currently, the university offers Master’s and PhD programs in Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, and Sharia Studies across 17 different departments, providing skilled professionals to society.

6- Organizational Structure

AIIU is the first international university in Afghanistan with a structured administration under the presidency, including academic affairs, research, international relations, student affairs, and financial and administrative departments. This structure ensures smooth coordination of all academic and administrative operations according to university objectives.

6- University Councils

Various councils have been established to ensure organized progress in university operations and activities. They conduct meetings, provide advice, and solve issues in respective areas. Some of these councils include:

7- Academic Affairs Directorate

Introduction: The Academic Affairs Directorate plays a key role in establishing academic programs and recruiting internal and external scientific personnel. Under this directorate, 17 Master’s and PhD programs are active across the four faculties (Sharia, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine), providing skilled professionals to society.

Organizational Structure: The directorate includes 2 departments and 7 management units to coordinate academic activities.

Academic Programs: 17 graduate-level programs (Master’s and PhD) are running under the directorate. This demonstrates the university’s strong academic growth within just three years since establishment. Continuous efforts are made to introduce additional programs according to societal needs.

Faculty Management: Highly qualified, committed, ethical, and PhD-level faculty members are recruited and assigned to manage academic programs across all faculties. Experienced foreign professors are also engaged in teaching, research supervision, and capacity building.

Quality Assurance: The Quality Assurance unit monitors all academic programs, teaching standards, and student learning outcomes according to the Ministry of Higher Education guidelines. Various committees have been formed, including:

8- Capacity Building (PDC Unit)

The Professional Development Directorate works on capacity building of faculty members through conferences, seminars, workshops, and short, medium, and long-term training programs. The goal is to enhance the overall capacity of academic personnel for better teaching and research outcomes.
