Vice Chancellor for International Affairs

Introduction
Afghan International Islamic University has five vice-chancellors within its organizational structure, one of them is the vice-chancellor of International Relations. The VC of International Relations is considered one of the unique features of this university. In response to the question of why and when this office was established, it should be mentioned that the university is an international institution that maintains relations with foreign professors, students, external educational institutions, and various international organizations. For this reason, it was deemed necessary for the university to have VC of International Relations. Accordingly, at the request of the Ministry of Higher Education and with the approval of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate, in the year 1443 A.H., the university named Afghan International Islamic University, was established. Simultaneously with the establishment of the university, the VC of International Relations was also founded.

Vision

With due consideration of Islamic and national values, the vision is to establish standard and sustainable academic and scientific relations with educational and charitable institutions, research centers, and organizations at the regional and international levels.

Mission

The mission of VC for International Relations is to cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships that advance the growth, development, and academic excellence of the university. This includes establishing collaborations with universities, research centers, and institutions at both national and international levels, as well as facilitating the negotiation and conclusion of memoranda of understanding and cooperative agreements with academic institutions, government agencies, private sector entities, commercial organizations, and other international institutions. These efforts aim to promote scientific research, enhance scholarly achievements, and strengthen the university’s reputation and global standing.

Objectives

  • To enhance the international standing and institutional capacity of the Afghan International Islamic University and to promote specialized academic disciplines at regional and global levels.
  • To establish relationships and obtain membership with reputable scientific and international organizations, as well as to negotiate and sign memoranda, agreements, and contracts with universities and institutions regionally and worldwide additionally, to facilitate the exchange and deployment of faculty and staff, particularly at the Master’s and Doctoral (PHD) levels.
  • To expand international academic collaborations while upholding Islamic law (Sharia) and safeguarding the national interests of Afghanistan.
  • To strengthen and develop international scientific cooperation, particularly with the Islamic world and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and to facilitate connections with national and international charitable institutions in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • To establish mutually beneficial engagement with national and international investors in the health, agricultural, and engineering sectors, including negotiating contracts and agreements with foundations and companies conducting research and operations in these fields.
  • To provide the framework for official travel for the purpose of signing national and international agreements and contracts on behalf of the Afghan International Islamic University.
  • To introduce members of VC for International Relations, as well as faculty members or individuals with independent studies, for official travel to obtain visas from foreign embassies residing in Afghanistan.
  • To expedite the verification of documents and facilitate the issuance of visas for international scholars and academics invited for collaboration or teaching at Afghan International Islamic University by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • To facilitate the visa process for individuals interested in investing in the development and service sectors, and to promote the establishment of well-equipped, modern, and standard laboratories within the infrastructure of the Afghan International Islamic University.

 

Responsibilities of VC for International Relations

  • facilitating official travel for the signing of national and international contracts and memoranda of understanding on behalf of Afghan International Islamic University.
  • To establish mechanisms for scientific and cultural cooperation in coordination with the university’s leadership.
  • To maintain communication with international educational institutions and academic figures for scientific and cultural collaborations.
  • To assist in the preparation and management of contracts and memoranda of understanding, particularly for scholarship candidates and related financial arrangements.
  • To develop a system for managing all memoranda, notes, contracts, and other academic collaborations of the university.
  • planning and implementing research programs aimed at strengthening cultural and academic exchanges.
  • To create an environment conducive to fostering and expanding international cultural relations.
  • To facilitate meetings between senior university officials and foreign educational institutions to secure scholarship opportunities.
  • Communicating with reputable scientific and international organizations, secure membership, sign notes, contracts, and memoranda with universities at regional and global levels, and coordinate the deployment of faculty and staff for various academic programs, particularly at the Master’s and Doctoral
  • (PHD) levels.
